Sir,       Inclosed you will receive a Bill drawn by Messrs Surtees Burdon & Co. on Messrs Barclays & Co. at Forty Days dated the 15th inst for Seventy Five Pounds 1s/2d  being for half a Years Moor Master’s Rent due from Thos. Rd. Beaumont Esq. the 1st August next to the Lord Bishop of Durham , with 1s/2d  for Acquitance & Duty.  Please to send a receipt for the same.                                I am etc  J E B



I was very much surprised to find that a Part of a Clause in the Printed Bill for the Dividing the Moors & Stinted Pastures in Weardale (which Clause was agreed to at the General Meeting of the Proprietors) has been left out in the Bill Viz: (Fo. 32)  “And that without Paying any Damage or making any satisfaction whatsoever for so doing.” This Omission appears to have been by design and I think that Mr Scruton is highly blameable and that he has treated the Lord Bishop of Durham and his Lessees very ill  Mr Williamson is of the same opinion.
