Sir!	You should sooner have had an answer to your last letter had Mr Beaumonts Agent given me an answer to mine on that business, but I believe that he has not altered his opinion as to the value of your Mine etc and the present prospect of the Lead trade is so discouraging that Coll Beaumont does not incline to make a higher offer;  As to granting a Lease of Yew Tree & <Hamishaw> Veins he is advised against it; many offers of the like kind have been made for different Veins wch have not been complied with by the Concern

	I am sorry that you have been a sufferer by the Workings of the Mine & that it is not in my power to comply with your proposals.                  I am etc   J.E.B

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
