Mr J Bell Hexham Abbey Newcastle 30th Jany 1797 Dear Sir I wrote to Mr Beaumont respecting the building going forward at Hexham Abbey & what you mentioned on that business; I likewise had some discourse with Mr Newton, & it was intended that Mr Johnson should come over here to meet me & Mr Newton & I had wrote to him to that purpose but Mr Newton having a severe return of his disorder prevented me sending my letter; Mr Newton still being very weak & in a very precarious state, I should be glad to have some conversation with Mr Johnson & as Sunday morning next may be the most convenient time for him, you will please to acquaint him therewith. I sometime since desired that you would see Mr Westgarth Forster & would take such steps as you thought adviseable for the security of the money owing by him to Mr Beaumont, I understand that you had authority to Advertise the estate, but it was necessary that Mr Forster & his son Westgarth should join in a Bond to Mr Beaumont, as a security for the debt untill the estate could be disposed of; if that is not already done no time should be lost in carrying it into execution, as I am informed that Mr Forster is dangerously ill I am etc J.E.B
