Colonel Beaumont Newcastle 20th Oct 1799 Bretton Wakefd Yorkshire D[ea]r Sir I am favoured with your letter of the 18th Inst and am very much surprised to find that you have not made a purchase of your Land Tax; I beg leave to refer you to my several letters of the 8th the 15th & the 22nd of April last, by which you will observe that the Land Tax Certificate (with the Contract) for Northumberland was sent you by the Mail Coach on the 16th April that for the County of Durham by the like conveyance on the 21st April, of which you was advised in the letters above mentioned. I had an infinite deal of trouble in this business, & fully executed that part which could be done here, the several Certificates were sent you from hence & I suppose that from Yorkshire by Mr Tweedale the business then was short as you had purchased Stock for the purpose, & laid with you or your Agent in Town, or Banker whoever you thought proper to appoint to do the business; Indeed I had not the least doubt of your having made the purchase, & I am concerned that it has not been done; there was an omission in the schedule for Weardale which was not found out for some time after & the schedule was not sent you but as soon as the Certificate can be obtained it will be forwarded to you.
