Dear Sir        I wrote to you in Town on the 23rd inst.  to which I refer you; I was Yesterday favoured with your Letter of the 22nd.  I hope that this may find Mrs Beaumont yourself & young Folks perfectly well after your Journey.  Your Lead Agents inform me that there are very little Changes in the State of the Mines since the Lead Pay; but they say that owing in some Degree to the Division of the Common, (as well as to the very low Condition of the Carriage Horses) that there will be a great Difficulty in having the several Lead Mills fully supplied with Ore, & likewise the Lead brought down to Blaydon.  

I had yesterday a Letter from Mr Bell with the Amount of your Income Tax being (after the Abatement for Children being Deducted £1260..  but in Case you should approve of the whole Sum being paid at once into the Bank of England (whereby you will be entitled to 5 P Ct. on the several Payments) you will please to advise me, & likewise let me know what I must give to Mr Walton respecting the Subject in my former Letter.  Your Gamekeeper informs Mr. Crawhall that the Moor Game have bred tolerable well, but are very small, that the severe Weather the latter end of May kill’d many of them.        I am etc    J E B 

On the 3rd inst I paid into the Bank Bills at 2 Months Date for £6367 . . on the 24 inst Bills at 1 & 2 Months for £5000 . & this Week I expect to make the like Payment of £5000 .s .d at 1 & 2 Month’s Date.
