Colonel Beaumont Newcastle 30th July 1797

M.P. Scarbrough

Dr Sir	I am favoured with your letters of the 26th & 27th inst & I observe that you approve of the Boundary being ascertained, & settled, between the Manor of Alston Moor, and that of Stanhope (leased by you) the Boundary between the Hospital Estate, & the Regality of Hexham, was settled in 1777. Mr Newton is in the Country, & I do not find that he is yet capable of doing business; his Son is from home, when he returns, I shall desire him to give you the Information that you want. Mr Anderson asked 30 Guineas a Year for the house that I mentioned to you in a former letter, it was old, & would require many things being done by the tenant; I have engaged a small house in Westgate Street (above Mr Heron’s house on the same side of the street) for five years at £20 per Ann. rent, it has had a thorough repair, & is to be painted inside & out; it is the property of Mr Ord of Fenham. I hope that it may meet with your approbation. Should you send your Gamekeeper on these Moors? I fancy that a few Birds would be very acceptable to Genl Musgrave. Two Guineas shall be given in your Name to the Prisoners in Morpeth Goal of which proper notice shall be taken I am etc J.E.B

P.S. I have seen Mr Newton Jr who has promised me to give the Information that you want.
