Dear Sir	I wrote to you the 1st Inst to which I refer you; I have paid into the Bank of Mess Surtees Burdon & Co on your Accot the Bills undermentioned amounting to £23,289-19-10  the beginning of next month I expect to pay about £6000 more in Cash or Notes, & against the Lead Pay about £4000 reserving £6000 for the next lending, the Candle Notes, B[isho]p’s & Rectors rents, & other payments; the beginning of July there will be due about £16,000 for Lead sold.  Lead from the several Mills comes in very slowly owing to the season, notwithstand[ing]g the exertions used, & the encouragement given to the Lead Carriage; there are at present near 16,000 p[iece]s of Lead on the Road; The Demand is trifling, & I much fear that the late price of £20 cannot be supported; some quantity of the best Lead has lately been sold at Stockton at £19-2-8 per Fo[the]r.  Since thursday we have had a great fall of Snow with severe Frost & there is every appearance of a continuance.  On Saturday Wheat sold from 12s to 13s 6 per W Bush: & soon bought up by the Millers, who are the chief cause of the high price; Oats sold from 3s to 3s/6d & some for seed as high as 4s per Win Bush; Beans at 6/6  Grey Peas at 7/6.

	I have no doubt but you have hear’d of Sir John Eden’s publick declaration of his not having any further Views respect[in]g the County of Durham; I hope that the County of North[umberlan]d as well as this place may be equally quiet.    I am etc   J.E.B
