Dear Sir	You will have received a Letter from Mr Arth Surtees informing you of the Particulars of a very extraordinary & ill founded Demand that I understand is is intended to be made on you, I never heard of it till a few Days ago, when Mr A Surtees & Is Hunter called on me, the former told me that he would write to you on the Business, Tho there is not the smallest Pretence for this Claim, yet it being of that Magnitude & Serious Nature, I think it advisible that Mr Williamson & Mr Heron should be made acquainted with it by Isaac Hunters Friend & Attorney; & I have spoke to him to that Purpose; they probably may recommend a meeting with Mr Is Hunter Mr Surtees & Mr Westgarth, when the whole Matter of the Claim may be explained to them. I go to Hexham tomorrow (to meet the Lead Stewards with Subsistence Money for your Workmen & for Wood Payments as well to make the East Carrigg Pay which on the whole will amount to abt £

                                                                                                      I am etc J.E.B

Your sudden call to join your Regt I hope is not for the Purpose of sending you to Ireland.

The two Battals of the 15th Regt were ordered for Ireland, & one or two Divisions were on their March; they have been countermanded & are returned to Sunderland Barracks.

We have cold & wet Weather at present with Showers of Snow & Hail at S. East.
