I acquainted you in my last letter with the Conversation that I had with Mr Burdon _ The Lead Buyers have made Offers of paying One half of the Amount of the last Quantity of Lead sold them one Month sooner than the Agreement & the Remainder a Month later wch on consulting with Mr J Surtees it being agreeable to him I consented to. I am in treaty with Mr C B for 6000 Ps Lead & with N F &Cos for f[ro]m 10,000 to 15000 Ps 2/3 Comon 1/3 Refd at £15-10 per For payable in 6 Mos. I hope in a few days to inform you of the Agreement being made We made the East Lead Carriage Pay yesterday at Blaydon Amounting to £1650 - Mr W Forster died after a short Illness a few days since, I wrote to Mr Bell some time since to take the necessary Measures for the security of the debt owing to you but I am apprehensive that you will be a sufferer by him Mr Pearson informed me that Mr Wilson of Pomfrct has come to a Resolution of disposing of the House in Westgate Street wch you Rent of the Family at £36 per Annm & he makes you an Offer of the same at £650 I think that he should accept of £600 for it _ Mr Johnson the Mason was with me on Sunday last & I had some Convern with him before I sent for Mr Newton’s Son, he informed me they had got the Building up to the top of the Windows of the 2d floor of the West front, that they should proceed with the East front & cover the whole of that part together in the Course of next Month, he likewise informed me that Mr Wilson Jr did not come there oftener than once in a fortnight & that the Workmen had not been at a stand owing to his not being there more frequently, he is to meet Mr Johnson there the 14th against wch time I have wrote to Mr Bell to speak to a Plumber at Hexham to give in his proposals for doing the Work being supplied with the Lead from Dukesfield, the Old Lead from the Abbey being sent there to be new cast _ Mr Newton is better but not so well as to enter on business & I am doubtful of his ever being in a State to undertake it I am etc J.E.B
