The Pay for the Mines & Lead Mills, with the Subsistance money for the Workmen which they should have had last week will amount to about £53,000 with which we are to be supplied by Mess Surtees Burdon & Co in the following manner £37,000 in Notes of £5 each, 14,000 in Notes of £1 each, & 2,000 in Gold & Silver which is all that I can obtain from them, & I much fear that it may not give satisfaction. I am selling small quantities of Lead & Litharge for exportation at the following prices, which will come in payment in suitable times for the payments to be made Comn Lead £15-10 Refin’d £15-15 Litharge £16 Should I meet with a small House in a convenient part of the Town at about £18 per Year Rent have you any objection to it being engaged for an Office etc. What answer must I give to the Widow & Son of Westgarth Forster respecting the debt due from her concerning which I wrote to you. Mr John Stoddart who married a Sister or Mr C Blackett stopt payment the other day, he is indebted to you £73-11-1 for Lead, his effects are assigned over to Trustees for the benefit of his Creditors & I hope that he may pay fifteen shillings in the pound.
