18th   Sent Mr Denton Mr Bernardeaus bill on Messrs Simond for £448. 2. 6 to enable him with what Mr Blackett had made him to discharge Mr <Groses> Debt of £1200; sent him a colony of <doves> the [missing word] Lre  to Mr Blackett, & wrote Jones that Mr Denton had directions to pay off that debt.

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
