To Sr.Wr. Blackett Bt. MP. London 30 April 1756 Hon Sr. Mr Robt. Carrick Dr. to Sr.Wr.Blackett Bt 1756 Mar 31 sold & d[elivere]d him by Jos.Richmond 200 p[iece]s of Sr.Wr.Blacketts Lead q[uanti]ty 296 cwt.2 q 0lb at £15 a Fodd[er] of 21 [cwt] £211.15.6 Above is the acct. of what Mr Carrick is indebted to you for 200 p[iece]s of Lead. Mr Fawcet tells me no agent can prove a debt before a Comiss[io]n of Bankruptcy for they must have the principals' Affid[avi]t th[a]t the money is due, even tho Mr Carrick on his examination shall own it to be so. I am only to prove th[a]t I sold & d[elivere]d to him the Lead at the time & at the price above mentioned, & have rec[eiv]ed no part of the value, wch I assure you I have not, & I am satisfied no part of the value can have been rec[eiv]ed by you. If you please therefore to order Mr Denton to draw a proper Affid[avi]t & send it down before the 10th May I will attend the Comiss[ioner]s with it at their second meeting. or if you do not approve thereof the debt may be proved in time enough afterwards when you come down into the Country. L[or]d Darlington & the Quakers Co. will be obliged also to prove their respective debts themselves. For their Agents single proof will not be accepted. I am etc JR
