List of Teesdale Christmas Bargains 1815
Report of Teesdale Mines
None of the trials at Flakebridge, Wiregill, Mannergill, & Brockergill, have yet arrived at the objects of them, and they are of course continuing to be prosecuted as usual.
The prospects at Coldberry are not nearly so favourable indeed at present there is hardly any Ore Visible, in this Mine.
At Lodgesyke the leading foreheads are exceedingly poor, as are also the general Workings; but as this Mine is perpetually fluctuating in its prospects and appearance, we trust there may shortly be an improvement in it; and I have let the Bargains rather with a view to what we hope the Mine may shortly become, than in its present goodness. &, the Court will see by the subjoined list that the prices are accordingly kept very low.
There is a Reduction of eleven pickmen this Quarter which are all I could dismiss with propriety; none of the Workings in which the others are employed been wrought out.
I expect to be able to dismiss a Similar Number next quarter, which will Reduce the Workmen as low as I conceive to be advantageous.
The dead Work and every other expenditure are reduced as much as is practicable consistent with the Companys Interest, and with the Regular prosecution of the Mines
Undated but been assigned a date of 31st December 1815 as it records the setting of the Christmas bargains.
